The Moon on December 7, 1992, in a false-color mosaic built from 53 images taken through spectral filters by Galileo’s imaging system as the space probe flew over the northern lunar regions: “Bright pinkish areas are highlands materials, such as those surrounding the oval lava-filled Crisium impact basin toward the bottom of the picture. Blue to orange shades indicate volcanic lava flows. To the left of Crisium, the dark blue Mare Tranquillitatis is richer in titanium than the green and orange maria above it. Took to the back roads of Tennessee the other morning and found myself caught in a massive fog bank rolling in from Norris Lake down into the river below. It was probably in the teens as far as temperature goes and I couldn’t feel my finger clicking the camera shutter by the end, but my God was it worth it.
